Funeral Card Friday - C. Lester Cubbage

Charles Lester Cubbage was my great uncle. This funeral card was found with Cubbage family memorabilia and photos and also includes his obituary. Lester was the oldest of the eight Cubbage children. He was born on 1 January 1904 in Swissvale, PA and died on 4 May 1970 in Trenton, NJ.

Funeral Card Friday - Elizabeth Linnemann Speck Merz

Elizabeth Linnemann Speck Merz was my great-grandmother. She died in Pittsburgh on April 20, 1966, but was buried next to her second husband (Charles Merz) at the Presbyterian Church Cemetery in New Providence, NJ, just a few blocks from her daughter Agnes' house. Her first husband, Frank Speck, died in 1940.

Frank Rudolph Speck was my great uncle, brother to my grandmother Agnes Speck Cubbage. I posted a picture of his tombstone earlier this week. Frank was born on May 2, 1918 in Monessen, PA to Frank F. Speck and Elizabeth Linneman Speck. He spent his childhood in Monessen and most of his adult life in the North Side of Pittsburgh.

Charles August Merz was my great-grandmother's (Elizabeth Linneman Speck) second husband. While I am not a descendant of Charles, he was the only grandfather that my father knew, so I have heard many stories about "Pap".

This is yet another wonderful item found in the file of photocopies that I just received from my father. I'm not sure if this is exactly a funeral card or if it was printed in the newspaper, but it does contain a lot of information about Barbara's life and children.

Funeral Card Friday - Frank Speck

This is a copy of the funeral card for Frank Speck, my great-grandfather. He died suddenly, just a few weeks before his 53rd birthday, of a heart attack and myocarditis. The services were held at the home he shared with his wife Elizabeth ... 228 Donner Avenue, Monessen, PA. Frank was survived by two children, Agnes (age 25) and Frank (age 22).
